Beginnings
Chris Shaw grew up in the carpet cleaning business, literally. His mom used to answer the phones for K&L Chem-Dry in Tucson, as he worked as a helper on Saturdays during the school year when he was in high school, and full time over the summer. Helping his family and friends in the business prepared him for a future as a successful Chem-Dry owner. Chris realized that working for a Chem-Dry business was his passion, and wanted to dedicate himself to the field and truly pursue it.
The Moment
Following high school, Chris moved to Las Vegas and started working for Southwest Chem-Dry as a carpet technician. This was extremely tough, out in the fieldwork that gave Chris an extensive knowledge foundation on how the actual cleaning process works, what the technicians go through, and what the customers are responding to best. Suddenly, Chris struck gold; After 3 years of running the business, the owner didn’t want anything to do with the business and decided to hand the reigns over to a new, dedicated individual, and Chris became the general manager.
Running The Business
For 6 years Chris was running the company by himself, doing everything from sales and advertising to training and quality control while overseeing a company of 8 vans and 15 employees. After 9 years in Vegas, Mr. Shaw needed a change and decided to move his cleaning business to San Diego in 1999 and bought BnK Chem-Dry in May of 2000 and the second franchise in 2005, and a third in 2010. Chris Shaw now has 5 employees and 4 vans servicing north San Diego and south Orange counties.

Chris and his crew continue to constantly train, educate, and become certified on all of the newest, cutting-edge products, services, and processes. BnK Chem-Dry of Carlsbad is much more than your average carpet cleaner. We now offer 40 green-certified products and will be expanding into tile & stone cleaning in the near future. Granite countertop polishing will be a priority service in the future for the company as well.
